Eternal Father, I unite myself with the intentions and affections of our Lady of Sorrows on Calvary, and I offer Thee the Sacrifice which Thy beloved Son Jesus made of Himself on the Cross and which He now renews on this holy altar: 1. To adore Thee and give Thee the honor which is due Thee, confessing Thy supreme dominion over all things, and the absolute dependence of everything upon Thee, Who art our one and last End.

Prayers at the Foot of the Altar
The priest (V.) bowing down at the foot of the altar, makes the Sign of the Cross † - the first of 52 times during the True Mass (to represent each week of the year) and with the Mass Server (R.) kneeling to his right, says:

In order to approach God we must further purify ourselves. Public confession, like the aspersion, is a sacramental which may obtain from God the remission our venial sins. Thus the priest signs himself with Sign of the Cross and gives us absolution the first time.

After the Gloria, the Priest kisses the altar, and turns to the people with a bonding refrain heard often throughout the Holy Mass which indicates the close bond between the faithful and the 'alter Christus' in the person of the Priest.

THE COLLECT
The Priest then reads the THE COLLECT for the day from the THE PROPER OF TODAY'S HOLY MASS. At the end of the Collect, the Priest says aloud, Per omnia saecula saeculorum. World without end. to which the Altar Server responds Amen.
THE EPISTLE
Then the priest reads the EPISTLE for the day. THE PROPER OF TODAY'S HOLY MASS.
At the end of the Epistle he places his left hand on the altar and the Altar Server responds Deo Gratias Thanks be to God. and he genuflects in the center and goes to retrieve the book from the Epistle side to the Gospel side of the Altar after genuflecting in the center with the Book. After the Priest has finished the Gradual, Tract, or Alleluia with verse or Sequence, he goes to the center of the Altar to pray from the Center Mass Card the Munda Cor

In Solemn High Masses, the subdeacon chants the Epistle and then the Deacon retrieves the Bookand brings it to the center where he intones after the MUNDA COR prayer, the JUBE DOMINE BENEDICERE to which the Priest responds with the rest of the prayer above.

THE GOSPEL
For the Gospel of the Day, see THE PROPER OF TODAY'S HOLY MASS.
At this point in the Holy Mass the Priest makes the Sign † of the Cross on the Book, and then three small signs on his forehead, mouth and breast. This, as Charlemagne says in a letter to St. Alcuin, "By this sign of the cross we will preserve the hearts from evil thoughts, so that they may remain pure and so be able to grasp the words of salvation." The Altar Server and the faithful also make the three small signs of the cross on their foreheads, lips and breasts as the Altar Server responds:

The Priest or Deacon (at a Solemn High Mass) then reads the Holy Gospel. At the end of the Gospel, the Altar server responds:

At a Solemn High Mass the Deacon incenses the Book and Priest. Then, on Sundays and Holy Days, the Priest kisses the Altar and descends the Altar to the pulpit to read the Epistle and Gospel and then deliver the sermon.
The Creed is then said. It is the Credo of the First Council of Nicea and revised by the First Council of Constantinople. It is said on every Sunday and Holy Day, as well as feasts of the Apostles and Doctors of the Church, as well as such festivals that attract a large attendance such as Feasts of Our Lady.

MASS OF THE FAITHFUL
FIRST PART: THE OFFERTORY ACTS OF SELF-SURRENDER AND OBLATION From the OFFERING to the SANCTUS
"While they were at supper, Jesus took bread." Matthew 26: 26
The Priest begins the third part of the Holy Mass and the first part of the Mass of the Faithful in offering up to God on our behalf to God together with the substance of the Sacrifice - bread and wine. He turns to the Faithful and the Altar Server and says:

OFFERTORY PRAYER
Offering of the Bread and Wine
The Priest then removes the Pall from the Burse, placing the Burse to the left between the Center Card and the Sacramentary. He takes the Chalice veil, folding it in three folds and places it to his right, then spreads the Corporal out on the Altar placing the Chalice on it and the Pall on the Chalice with the unconsecrated host (hosts) on the Paten with the Purificator to the right of the unfolded Corporal. He then takes the Paten with the host, and offers it up, saying:

In Solemn High Masses, the Deacon fills the Chalice with wine and water.
Making the Sign of the Cross with the Paten, the Priest places the host upon the Corporal. He then moves to the right where the Altar Server is ready with the cruets containing the water and wine. The Priest pours the wine into the Chalice first, then blesses the water before it is mixed in with the wine, to signify the water that flowed from Christ's side when the Roman Centurion pierced His heart with a lance. Then the Priest reads the Prayer DEUS QUI from the Mass Card on the Epistle Side:

The Priest returns to the center of the Altar where he takes the Chalice and offers it up to the Father on our behalf, saying the OFFERIMUS from the Center Mass Card:

May this incense, which Thou hast blessed, O Lord, ascend to Thee, and may Thy mercy descend upon us. He then incenses the Altar Let my prayer, O Lord, be directed as incense in Thy sight: the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice. Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth, and a door round about my lips. May my heart not incline to evil words, to make excuses for sins.
He then hands the Censer to the Deacon, saying: May the Lord enkindle within us the fire of His love, and the flame of everlasting charity. Amen.

At Solemn High Mass, the Priest then is incensed by the Deacon, and after him the Sub-Deacon who takes the Censer and incenses the Deacon. Then the Sub-Deacon incenses the rest in turn in the Sanctuary before turning to the Faithful. All Stand as he incenses the Faithful. This incensing at High Mass represents the oblation which we offer up to be accepted by God - ourselves. "The saintly soul makes as it were, a thurible of his heart, which exhales its perfume before God," says Pope Saint Gregory the Great. In this way we participate in the Sacrifice, which will extend to us the effects of Divine Mercy, which are also represented by the incense. At Solemn Requiem Masses, the Priest alone is incensed, immediately after the incensing of the Altar.
The Lavabo - The Washing of the Hands
The Priest, having received the offerings and having incensed the Altar (at Solemn High Masses), he washes his fingers. Out of respect for the Body of Jesus, which he is about to touch after the Consecration. Thus he washes the tips of his fingers as the Altar Server pours water over them and then takes the linen towel to wipe them dry, praying Psalm 25: 6-12 on the Altar Card on the Epistle side:

THE SECRET
The priest completes the Prayer with "Amen." and reads the SECRET silently from the THE PROPER OF TODAY'S HOLY MASS. The offerings the Faithful formerly made at the Offertory were so great, that the Priest would select a few for the purpose of sacrifice and recite over them the prayer known as 'ORATIO SUPER SECRETA' - 'Prayer over the Oblations set apart.' The word 'Secreta' alone is now taken for 'Secret Prayers.' In order that all present may signify their concurrence in the first part of the Mass of the Faithful, viz. the Offertory, the Priest says the concluding words aloud: "Per omnia saecula saeculorum." "World without end." To which the Altar Server responds: AMEN.

The Priest then disjoins his hands and keeps them thus until the end of the PREFACE which can be accessed for the THE PROPER OF TODAY'S HOLY MASS. After praying the PREFACE, the Priest joins his hands again, bowing says the SANCTUS Prayer as the Altar Server rings the bells three times to alert the Faithful to kneel for the Canon of the Mass and the Consecration of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The SANCTUS is the triumphal hymn of the Angels, the "Trisagion" - Thrice Holy - addressed to the three Divine Persons. It is composed of words taken from Isaias 6: 3, Psalm 117, and from the acclamations which greeted Jesus on the occasion of His solemn entry into Jerusalem in Matthew 21.

PRAYERS BEFORE THE CONSECRATION
The Priest begins the fourth part of the Holy Mass, and the second part of the Mass of the Faithful - the most sublime - by bowing low and kissing the altar, then silently, as throughout the Canon, asks God through Jesus Christ to accept our offerings. He makes over the Host and Chalice three Signs of the Cross, showing that Jesus' Sacrifice on the Cross obtained for us the blessing of the three Divine Persons. He begins with the:

COMMUNICANTES - INVOCATION OF THE SAINTS
Here the Priest prays the Communicantes in celebrating the Church Triumphant with the Invocation of the Saints. This is the same throughout the year except for feasts of Christmas, the Epiphany, Easter, the Ascension, and Pentecost Sunday where the first part commemorates the specific feast.

PRAYERS AT THE CONSECRATION
During the last sentence of the 'Communicantes,' the Priest joins his hands together and then extends them out together with his palms down over the Chalice and Host on the Paten to signify the same action the high priest formerly performed over the victim sacrificed in expiation for the sins of the people. This is to show that Jesus substitutes Himself for us, in taking on Himself the burden of our sins and washing them away with His blood, thus appeasing the Father, delivering us from hell and opening unto us the gates of Heaven. The Altar Server rings the bell and then genuflects at the center of the foot of the altar and kneels on the next step to the top just to the right of the priest where he can readily elevate the back of the Priest's Chasuble while ringing the bells for the Consecration.

For Easter and Pentecost Sunday, there is a special 'Hanc Igitur' which can be seen in the Proper. During the last sentence of the 'Hanc Igitur,' the Priest joins his hands together and then makes the Sign of the Cross three times over the Oblation, praying the 'Quam oblationem' and then blessing the Bread and then the Wine. It is about to become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, Soul and Divinity.

The Altar Server rings the bell when once again the Priest genuflects in adoration, and intensifies the ringing during the elevation of the Chalice, and then the same as the first genuflect when the Priest kneels down again to adore the Blood of Christ. Upon seeing the Chalice, now confected from mere wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, let us realize the profound mystical Sacrifice that has just taken place. With faith, piety and love let us look at the Chalice as it is raised and pray quietly: "MY LORD AND MY GOD!"

THE MIXTURE OF THE BODY AND BLOOD

Elevating a small host of the Blessed Sacrament and turning towards the Faithful, the Priest says the following aloud, followed by the DOMINE NON SUM DIGNUS three times. before he descends the Altar to administer Holy Communion first to the Mass Server and any others in the Sanctuary and then to the Communion Railing where one by one he administers the Sacred Host to each, placing on their tongue the Body of Christ.

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
If you cannot physically receive Holy Communion, there are a few approved Prayers that can be said in making an Act of Spiritual Communion, the most efficable is the one which carries a Plenary Indulgence once a month on the usual conditions when the Act is performed every day of the month. This was granted by the Sacred Apostolic Penitentiary on March 7, 1927 and again on February 25, 1933:
As I cannot this day enjoy the happiness of assisting at the Holy Mysteries, O my God! I transport myself in spirit to the foot of Thine Altar: I unite with the Church, which by the hands of the priest offers Thee Thine adorable Son: I offer myself with Him, by Him, and in His Name. I adore, praise, and I thank Thee, imploring Thy mercy, invoking Thine assistance, and presenting Thee as my Savior. Apply to my soul, I beseech Thee, O merciful Jesus, Thine infinite merits: apply them also to those for whom I particularly wish to pray. I desire to communicate spiritually, that Thy Blood may purify, Thy Flesh strengthen, and Thy Spirit sanctify me. May I never forget that Thou, my Divine Redeemer, hast died for me: may I die to all that is not Thee, that hereafter I may live eternally with Thee. Amen.

THE CONCLUSION OF HOLY MASS ACTS OF THANKSGIVING From the ABLUTIONS to the LEONINE PRAYERS

The Priest then returns to the Mass Server at the side steps of the Epistle side and, with his fingers extended over the chalice, allows the Server to pour the remainder of wine and water over his fingers into the Chalice. The Priest returns to the center of the Altar where he consumes this and purifies the Chalice and Paten, then folds up the Corporal, placing it folded over the Chalice. Then taking the Pall he places it on top of the Chalice and retrieves the Purificator which he places inside the Burse and sets it upon the Chalice and veil. While the Priest is doing this the Altar Server genuflects at the center of the Altar and retrieves the Missal from the Gospel side of the Altar, back to the foot of the Altar and then places it on the Epistle side of the Altar. If there are more than one Mass Servers or at a Solemn High Mass, the other Server or Sub-deacon simultaneously retrieves the Chalice veil from the Epistle side to the Gospel side. They genuflect together at the center of the foot of the Altar and proceed to their destinations, afterwards bowing towards the Priest and Tabernacle.
THE COMMUNION ANTIPHON
At the conclusion of the Communion Verse, the Priest returns to the center of the Altar, bows and kisses the Altar and turns to the Faithful saying:

The Priest returns to the center of the Altar, bows and descends the Altar to kneel at the bottom step with the Server to say the Leonine Prayers, the Prayers ordered by Pope Leo XIII. These prayers for protection against the devil were unbelieveably discontinued first by the Sillonist Cardinal Angelo Roncalli in his notorious revision of the Roman Missal in 1962 (Ring a bell, Motu fans?) and then continued by the perverted Cardinal Giovanni Montini, who also did away with Pope St. Pius X's vital Oath Against Modernism. These grave omissions have been followed by their Modernist conciliar successors Bishop Karol Wojtyla and Father Joseph Ratzinger. What a horror, but then it was these very men, most specificially the man they called Paul VI, spurred on by the known Freemason Annibale Bugnini, who ushered in "the abomination of desolation" with the pagan Modernist, Masonic and Protestant ritual known as the Novus Ordo - the New Order 'Mess' which, of course is no Mass at all, but a great sacrilege to God.
